Nancy Meagher Art

A passion for story telling, local history, and a scarred, emotional and textured surface, Meagher's oil paintings on canvas and vintage mosaics hold secrets.

Enormous Oaks on Amherst College Quad become benevolent Loch Ness monsters. They lean over the Quad's slick paths, waiting for the sleepy students to rise and greet the day. “Is the performance anxiety in check?”, they call down  at the close of the semester. “How's that final paper coming along?”

The flags that float over the Hampshire Athletic Club  Pool become “clouds” over an expanse of mint green. The large painting, “Emily's House in Wind, Rain and Night", reminds us that the poet wrote  in her studio bedroom, well past her bedtime.

Peaches move across a field of snow like abandoned haystacks, and the Leeds Mill River button workers wear clothing that foreshadows heavy rains and the eventual demise of the small factory Mill town.

“There is never enough time in a day," Meagher sighs. The frenetic quality of her work keeps  pace with the oversized ancient faux finished Swedish grandfather clock in her Living Room.
